National Instruments 778572-10 Signal Insertion Switch Module 

National Instruments part number 778572-10 is an identifying part number for the PXI-2510, a PXI Signal Insertion Switch Module. The instrument includes 64-channels and a Maximum Switching Current of 2 A. This fault insertion unit (FIU) is designed for hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) applications and electronic reliability tests. Each module has a set of feedthrough channels that can be opened or shortened to one or more fault buses. This architecture allows you to simulate open or interrupted connections, shorts between pins, shorts to battery voltages, and shorts to ground on a per-channel basis. 

When controlled with the LabVIEW Real-Time Module, the 778572-10 is ideal for validating the integrity of control systems, including engine control units (ECUs) and full authority digital engine controls (FADECs). This module is rated for Measurement Category I and is intended for signal voltages not exceeding 150 V. It can withstand impulse voltages up to 500 V. It cannot be used for connections or measurements within Categories II, III, or IV. 

Additionally, users should not connect it to MAINS supply circuits, such as 115 or 230 VAC wall outlets. Its maximum switching power is limited by the maximum switching current and the maximum voltage, and must not exceed 60 W. This fault insertion unit features electromechanical, non-latching relays with contacts made from palladium-ruthenium, covered in gold for enhanced durability and conductivity. The front panel features a 160-position male DIN 41612 connector. 

The module's power requirements include 6.6 W at 5 V and 0.48 W at 3.3 V. The module is a 3U, single-slot PXI/cPCI module with dimensions of 18.8 cm (7.4 in.) in length, 2.0 cm (0.8 in.) in width, and 13.0 cm (5.1 in.) in height. It weighs 358 g or 12.6 oz.
