The National Instruments 778572-12 (or PXI-2512) is a top-quality fault insertion unit (FIU) designed for hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) applications and electronic reliability tests. It features 7 x channels with 2 x fault bus lines that allow you to simulate different fault conditions. This module is ideal for validating control systems like engine control units (ECUs) and full authority digital engine controls (FADECs) by using the LabVIEW Real-Time Module.
Each channel of the 778572-12 module can handle a maximum switching voltage of 50 VDC or 30 V ACrms (CAT I). The module supports a continuous current of up to 10 A per channel, with a pulsed current capability of 50 A for 600 μs max. The maximum switching power per channel is 500 W. The DC path resistance is typically 16 mΩ, with a maximum of 35 mΩ. It has a bandwidth of over 800 kHz. The module also includes overcurrent detection with a limit of 10.5 A and a delay of 20 ms that provides protection against current surges. Overtemperature detection circuitry helps prevent damage from overheating conditions.
The 778572-12 features FET relays with a typical operate time of 8 μs and a maximum of 35 μs. The relays have an unlimited life expectancy when used within specified limits. This signal insertion switch module supports both input and output triggers on PXI trigger lines <0...7>. The minimum input pulse width of this unit is 150 ns and the software-selectable output pulse width of this unit ranges between 1 µs to 62 µs. In addition, the instrument includes 2 x DSUB connectors with eight positions each, and it fits into a 3U, two-slot PXI/cPCI module. The unit is also compatible with PXI Express. It requires 1.0 W at 3.3 V and 13.0 W at 5 V from a PXI chassis, or 14.7 W at +12 V and 1.4 W at 3.3 V from a PXI Express chassis.
The 778572-12 unit is specially designed to operate within a temperature range of 0 °C to 50 °C and can be stored at temperatures between -40 °C and 70 °C. It maintains functionality at a relative humidity of 5% to 85% and at altitudes up to 2,000 meters. The module is compliant with various CE, safety, and EMC standards.
