National Instruments PXI-2512 Signal Insertion Switch Module

The National Instruments PXI-2512 (Part Number: 778572-12) is a 10 A, 7-Channel Signal Insertion Switch Module. This model is specially designed for electronic reliability tests and hardware-in-loop (HIL) applications. This module incorporates circuitry to detect overcurrent and over temperature conditions. Its overcurrent detection limit and delay settings are 10.5 A typical and 20 ms respectively.

The National Instruments PXI-2512 comes equipped with two DSUB, 8 position male front panel connectors and is offered with one DB8F-40A Cable (for 8-pin DSUB) and one DB8F-40A Cable (to the bare wire). As far as the input characteristics of this Signal Insertion Switch Module are concerned, it can handle 50 VDC, 30 V ACrms maximum switching voltage, 10 A maximum switching current, and 50 A (for 600 μs max) maximum pulse current. The NI PXI-2512 comes equipped with a set of feedthrough channels. With that feedthrough channel, the user can either open or short to one or several fault buses. This arrangement can also be utilized to simulate shorts to battery voltages, shorts between pins, per-channel basis shorts to ground, and to simulate interrupted or open connections as well.

This FIU is considered a viable solution for validating testing of various control systems, such as ECUs and FADECs etc. The NI PXI-2512 consumes 1.0 Watts of power while operating at 3.3 V and 13.0 W while working at 5 Volts. By design type, this module is a 3U, two slot, PXI module, which weighs around 403 g (14.2 oz) and has dimensions of 21.6 cm × 4.1 cm × 13.0 cm.
