The National Instruments 784146-01 PXI Multifunction Reconfigurable I/O Module (PXIe-7857R) is a highly versatile and customizable data acquisition and control device designed for demanding applications. It integrates a user-programmable Kintex-7 160T FPGA that enables precise and high performance onboard processing with direct control over I/O signals. This feature allows users to implement custom protocols, sensor simulation, and high speed control. The 784146-01 module offers 8 analog input channels with a 16 bit resolution SAR ADC. The channels support software selectable input modes including Differential, Non Referenced Single Ended and Referenced Single Ended. The input channels support a maximum sampling rate of 1 MS/s per channel with input signal ranges configurable between ± 1 V to ± 10 V.
The module provides robust overvoltage protection up to ± 42 V when powered on. For analog output, the module features 8 single ended channels each with a 16 bit resolution DAC. The outputs are capable of a maximum update rate of 1 MS/s and provide a ± 10 V range. The output section includes enhanced R-2R DACs that offer low noise and fast settling times. The outputs are protected against short circuits and overvoltage. The digital I/O section of the NI 784146-01 module has 48 channels split across two connectors. These channels support frequencies up to 80 MHz and are compatible with various logic families including LVTTL and LVCMOS. The digital I/O channels are software-programmable that allowing for dynamic reconfiguration based on application requirements.
The I/O module's reconfigurable FPGA is synchronized using an onboard clock phase locked to the PXI Express 100 MHz reference. It also supports direct memory access (DMA) for high speed data transfers. The model includes a 512 MB onboard DRAM for buffering data that further enhances its capability to handle large data sets in real time processing scenarios. The 784146-01 measures 18.5 cm × 17.3 cm × 3.6 cm (7.3 in. × 6.8 in. × 1.4 in.) and weighs 170.9 g.
