The National Instruments 786455-01 which is also identified as a PCIe-7856 module is a Multifunction Reconfigurable Digital I/O Device. It features a Kintex-7 160T FPGA technology. This device supports a variety of high-speed data acquisition and control tasks that include custom protocol communication, hardware-in-the-loop testing, sensor simulation, and high-speed control. It offers the maximum sample rate of 1 MS/s per channel. The input signal range is configurable to ±1 V, ±2 V, ±5 V, or ±10 V, and it includes overvoltage protection up to ±42 V when powered on. This multifunction digital RIO device offers 8 x single-ended voltage output channels. Each channel has a 16-bit enhanced R-2R DAC and an output range of ±10 V. The outputs feature short circuit protection and overvoltage protection up to ±15 V when powered on. The Digital I/O capabilities include two connectors providing a total of 48 channels, with maximum frequencies of 10 MHz on connector 0 and 80 MHz on connector 1.
The I/O voltage is programmable per connector and defined at compilation. Each channel supports a direction control and a minimum I/O pulse width of 6.25 ns. The 786455-01 DAQ device is designed as a standard height, half-length, and x4 PCI Express device that weighs only 141.4 g. It features 2 x 68-pin VHDCI connectors for I/O and 16 DMA channels. The device operates within a temperature range of 0 °C to 55 °C and up to an altitude of 2,000 m. The calibration of this 786455-01 multifunction RIO device requires a 15-minute warm-up, with a recommended calibration interval of one year.
