National Instruments PCIe-7842R Multifunction Reconfigurable I/O Device
The PCIe-7842R (Part Number: 781101-01) is an advanced Multifunction Reconfigurable I/O Device created by National Instruments. This device can control I/O signals. The PCIe-7842R features onboard signal processing and flexible synchronization and timing for the user’s measurement system. Another feature of this device is the independent triggering and timing for each channel. For this purpose, a dedicated A/D converter is provided on all channels. This feature provides extra functions to the NI PCIe-7842R, such as sampling at different rates and independent channel triggering. These features are not available in a simple DAQ device.
This device can be used with the NI-RIO driver software version 3.1 or later and is compatible with software packages or application development environments (ADEs) such as LabVIEW, LabVIEW Real-Time module, LabVIEW FPGA Module version 8.5.1 or later. The PCIe-7842R has a Virtex-5 LX50 FPGA. The Virtex-5 type of FPGA has quicker processing than the Virtex-II FPGA.
The PCIe-7842R Multifunction Reconfigurable I/O Device has 8 independent analog input channels and 8 independent 16-bit analog output channels. The analog input channels support DIFF, RSE, and NRSE input modes. The resolution of the analog input channels is 16 bits. The maximum sampling rate is 200 kS/s. The PCIe-7842R supports the input signals in a range of -10 V to +10 V. Input and output signals can be connected to the device with the SCB-68 shielded connector block. This device can safely operate within +12V.
The NI PCIe-7842R also incorporates eight analog output channels. The output channels are 16-bit single-ended channels. The update rate of the output channels is up to 1 MS per second. An enhanced R-2R type DAC is used in this device. The output channels can operate within the range of +10 V.
The PCIe-7842R Multifunction Reconfigurable I/O Device additionally features 96 bidirectional digital I/O channels (which are TTL compatible), with the digital channels having an output current of 4 mA. The PCIe-7842R supports two digital I/O logic levels: 3.3 V and 5 V. The power-on state of these channels in programmable, by line. The device weighs 127 g, and measures 6.7 x 4.3 in. in dimensions.
