National Instruments PXI-7852R PXI Multifunction Reconfigurable I/O Module

The PXI-7852R (Part number: 780340-01) Multifunction Reconfigurable I/O Module designed by National Instruments is a member of the R Series. This module has the following specifications at 25° C: eight analog input channels, DIFF, RSE, and NRSE input modes, 16 bits resolution, 1 μs conversion time, 750 kS/s maximum sampling rate for every channel, eight analog output channels, and 96 digital I/O channels. The FPGA on this module is a Virtex-5 LX50 with 1,728 kbits embedded block RAM and 48 DSP48 slices (25 x 18 multipliers). The National Instruments PXI-7852R module is small and lightweight, with dimensions of 6.7 x 4.3 inches and a weight of 152 grams. Therefore, the module can be carried with ease and transported wherever it is needed.

The NI PXI-7852R has a suggested warm-up time of 15 minutes and should be calibrated every year. These two stipulations will ensure that the Multifunction Reconfigurable I/O Module is functioning at its optimum levels. The PXI-7852R module has a self-calibration feature for simple calibration, which can be performed by the user. The process takes around two minutes and is the favored way to guarantee preciseness in the user’s applications. Calibrating the instrument is the best way to ensure accuracy and reduce measurement mistakes. In addition, self-calibration will decrease the influence from offset and gain drifts, especially those caused by differences in temperature. Throughout self-calibration, the analog input and output channels will be compared to the onboard voltage reference. Then, the offset and gain errors will be calibrated out by modifying the CalDACs to decrease mistakes.

PXI-7852R Mature Status has been announced by National Instruments, but the module will still be available for purchase and repairs by Apex Waves.
