National Instruments PCI-6115 Multifunction I/O Device
The PCI-6115 (Part numbers: 778534-01, 778554-01, 184529D-03, 187519L-02L) is a Multifunction I/O Device from the S Series by NI. This device has two analog input FIFO buffer sizes, depending on the part number. Part number 778534-01 has a FIFO buffer size of 16 MS, while the buffer size of part number 778554-01 is 32 MS. This I/O device offers four analog input channels that are pseudo differential, with 12 bits of resolution. This model allows the user to input data for various measurement requirements, making it especially useful for applications such as IF digitization, radar, sonar, ultrasound, high-energy physics, 42 V automotive applications, and transient/ballistics measurements.
The simultaneous sampling capability of this I/O device is accompanied by a maximum sampling rate of 10 MS per second for each channel–with a minimum rate of 20 kS per second. The two analog output channels of the PCI-6115 have a maximum update rate of 4 MS per second, and they are also equipped with 12 bits of resolution. Additionally, it features 8 TTL/CMOS digital I/O channels.
The NI PCI-6115 incorporates two counters that each have 24 bit resolution, making it an excellent choice for use cases that involve stimulus or response calculations. These measurements require a high level of accuracy and synchronization capabilities. The Multifunction I/O Device is powered through a BUS power interface and incorporates eight bidirectional digital channels. The dedicated A/D converters for each channel allow the user to reach quicker sampling rates for each channel, simultaneous sampling, and improved dynamic preciseness for transient or frequency measurements.
The NI-DAQmx driver can be used with the PCI-6115 in order to simplify the configuration and measurement procedure for the user. Additionally, the instrument has various event trigger applications available, further enhancing its operational capabilities. The device hardware can be programmed using software packages/application development environments (ADEs) like LabVIEW, LabWindows/CVI, or Measurement Studio. The NI device measures 12.3 x 4.2 in. in physical dimensions, has a recommended warm-up time of 15 minutes, and should be calibrated at least once every year.
