National Instruments PXIe-4330 PXI Strain/Bridge Input Module

National Instruments developed the PXIe-4330 (Part Numbers: 781346-01, 194953D-02L), a simultaneous input module, for use in bridge-based sensor applications. This module guarantees fast data throughput, synchronization characteristics, and exact measurements with greater accuracy thanks to its integrated data gathering and signal conditioning capabilities. It has eight analog input channels with simultaneous sampling and 24-bit Delta-Sigma ADCs with analog prefiltering, making it ideal for high-density measurement systems​.

The PXIe-4330 supports ±100 mV/V when V<sub>ex</sub> ≤ 2.5 V, and ±25 mV/V when V<sub>ex</sub> ≥ 2.75 V for signal conditioning​. Additionally, its CMRR of 85 dB (DC to 1 kHz) and common-mode voltage input range of ±2 V guarantee dependable operation even in noisy surroundings. The module improves data quality by providing digital filters and antialiasing for each channel to address noise interference.

Additionally, independent, programmable excitation voltages are provided for each channel to allow for flexible integration of sensors. Bridge completion options include full, half, and quarter modes, software-selectable per channel. Half-bridge completion offers a tolerance of ±500 μV/V max and stability of 2.5 μV/V per °C max. Quarter-bridge completion supports 120 Ω, 350 Ω, and 1 kΩ resistors with a tolerance of 0.1% max and stability of 10 ppm/°C max​.. The PXIe-4330 offers software-selectable shunt calibration for each channel, with the option to use internal or external referencing, for calibration reasons.

Shunt calibration resistor values include 33.333 kΩ, 50 kΩ, and 100 kΩ with 0.1% tolerance and 10 ppm/°C stability, ensuring precise calibration across temperature changes​. This module provides both analog and digital trigger choices, which are important for data collecting. Using customizable levels and trigger modes, analog triggers are reference triggers that are derived from AI <0..7>.

With software-selectable polarity and debounce filter settings, digital triggers fed from multiple PXI lines enable start or reference triggers. Using a FIFO buffer capacity of 1,023 samples, the PXIe-4330 allows data transfers via programmed I/O or direct memory access (DMA). The PXIe-4330 supports sample rates from 1 S/s to 100 S/s in 1 S/s increments, and 100 S/s to 25.6 kS/s in 100 S/s increments​.
