National Instruments / Smart E Tech RTI-12302 Rear Transition Interface
The RTI-12302 Rear Transition Interact (Part Numbers: 785377-01 (NI), 93339 (Smart E Tech)) was created to interact with the Switch Load and Signal Conditioning (SLSC) architecture from National Instruments. It provides a means of uniform communication between National Instruments' PXI or cRIO platforms and well-established measurement instruments, especially in digital input/output transactions. In the SLSC design, the RTI-12302 acts as a critical bridge between the measurement instrument and the device under test (DUT), ensuring reliable passage of signals through its rear-mounted interface that is located in the SLSC cabinet.
The RTI-12302 enables working across 64 digital in/out channels by using two VHDCI connectors, JR2 and JR3, which are defined by pinouts for the Port 0 (P0.0 to P0.63) signals and grounding as well. It also includes other connectors, XP2 and XP3, that ensure mixed signal and power functions. In particular, XP2 is designed to support up to 30VDC at 0.3A per contact, while XP3 and JR1 support greater current levels of 8A per contact at 60VDC, ensuring efficient transmission of power to the related peripherals.
Suitable for laboratory and industrial conditions, the RTI-12302 operates between 0°C and 80°C and between 10–90% non-condensing humidity. It is designed to be small enough to fit SLSC form factors (101.9mm x 30.2mm). Electromagnetic compatibility is achieved through the use of shielded cabling in order to minimize interference for commercial environments. It is subject to safety laws that ensure it is not used in explosive or hazardous environments and voltage levels are complied with to prevent electric shock.
The interface also features simple system integration by using National Instruments' connector specifications in order to allow for plug-and-play compatibility of SLSC cards, PXI modules, and cRIO systems. Applications include automated test systems, signal condition workflows, and multi-step signal processing systems where reliable digital I/O interfacing is essential. The RTI-12302 is expandable in the future using SLSC modular arrangements.
SET GmbH offers flexibility through custom RTI solutions, though RTI-12302 satisfies generic requirements for DIO 64 RDIO2 implementations by integrating exact engineering and industry-standard interoperability.
