National Instruments 781059-01 Synchronization Module 

National Instruments part number 781059-01 is an identifying part number for the PXI-6682H a PXI Timing and Synchronization Module with 3 SMB General-Purpose PFI Lines, TCXO 10 MHz Timebase, and a Programmable Clock, DC to 1.5 MHz. This module facilitates easy synchronization of PXI systems. The 781059-01 can generate clock signals and events at predetermined future times, as well as timestamp inputs using synchronized system time. When installed in slot 2 of a compatible PXI chassis, this module can route clock triggers and messages. 

Moreover, it can route clock triggers and signals with low skew within a PXI chassis or across multiple chassis, offering a novel method for synchronizing multiple devices within a single PXI system. Using this Timing and Control Module, users can synchronize with other devices or PXI systems using IEEE 1588, IRIG-B, PPS, or GPS as time references. For multiple PXI and PXI Express systems, this module provides not only a synchronized clock but also a common time reference. This allows users to generate synchronized future time events within the synchronized time framework. 

The module, 781059-01 is functionally similar to the PXI-6682, but with one connector removed to allow compatibility with PXI Express systems. As such, it is unable to operate any PXI Express clocks or triggers, PXI_CLK10, or the PXI_STAR trigger lines. To override CLK_10 in a PXI Express system, you can connect a coaxial cable from the CLKOUT on the 781059-01 to the 10 MHz clock input on the rear of the PXI Express chassis, provided the chassis has this input. To drive the PXI_STAR trigger lines, you will need to use an additional PXI Express timing module, such as the NI PXIe-6672.
