National Instruments 784197-01 2-Channel PXI Counter/Channel Module

The National Instruments 784197-01 is a high-performance 2-Channel PXI Counter/Channel Module. This moduel is designed for precise automatic measurements and is also known as the Astronics PXIe-2461. It has the ability to measure frequencies up to 235 MHz with a resolution of 9 digits per second. The main specifications of the module include a single-shot time interval resolution of 1 ns that can be increased to 100 ps with averaging enabled. This helps to guarantee accurate timing measurements critical for high-speed applications. In addition, the Counter/Channel Module features a 2.5 mV trigger resolution.

The NI 784197-01 supports 2 x input channels with voltage ranges of ±5.1 V and ±42 V. This allows it to handle various signal types and levels. One MΩ input impedance results in very little loading on the signal source. It has a maximum input voltage requirement of 42 V. This module offers a 2.5 mV trigger resolution. It includes programmable trigger levels and supports various trigger modes that include edge and level triggering. This flexibility allows users to tailor the triggering to specific application needs. The module features nine different arming modes, such as immediate, external, and software arming. This NI 784197-01 unit also includes a high-stability time base with a frequency accuracy of 10 ppm. For increased accuracy, the time base can be synchronized with an external reference clock.

The front panel of the 784197-01 includes BNC connectors for the input channels, trigger input, and reference clock input. These connectors provide easy access for signal connections that ensure straightforward integration into test setups. The NI 784197-01 interfaces with the PXI Express system that offers high-speed data transfer capabilities. It can be used in temperatures between 0°C and 50°C and between -40°C and 70°C for storage. This unit is designed to be operated at the maximum altitude of 15,000 ft. under the relative humidity range of 5% to 95% (non-condensing). Its advanced measurement capabilities, programmable features, and multiple arming modes make it suitable for a wide range of automatic measurement functions.
