National Instruments USB-6216 Multifunction I/O Device
The USB-6216 (part numbers: 780108-01, 780170-01, 781004-01, 780172-01, and 197504-01) is a Multifunction I/O Device from the National Instruments M Series. Designed for a wide range of test and measurement applications, the NI USB-6216 device is an excellent choice for academic labs, data acquisition, portable data logging, instrument design and testing, and more. Compact and portable, this device features 16 single ended analog input channels that can be configured as 8 differential channels. These channels feature a sampling frequency of 400 kS/s, and the device has 16 bits of ADC resolution. In addition, 2 analog output channels and 32 bidirectional I/O channels provide enhanced connectivity options.
There are a few variations of the NI USB-6216 Multifunction I/O Device, each represented by a unique part number. Part numbers 197504-01 and 780172-01 both describe OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) versions of the device, with 780172-01 representing when the device is purchased in a pack of ten. The other part numbers differ in their connectivity options. Part number 780108-01 of the device has screw terminal connectors, part number 781004-01 utilizes BNC connectors, and part number 780170-01 is built with SCSI terminal connections.
The two general purpose timer/counters of the NI USB-6216 feature 32 bits of resolution. The maximum internal base clock frequency for the timers is 80 MHz, and the device provides a frequency generator channel that boasts base clocks of both 10 MHz and 100 kHz.
