National Instruments 777119-02 VXIbus Interface Kit
The National Instruments 777119-02 or VXI-PCI8015 VXIbus Interface Kit is designed to offer seamless integration between PCI-based systems and VXIbus systems. This kit provides a direct link between the VXIbus and your PCI-based computer. This makes the computer function as though it were an embedded VXI controller. By using the high-speed MXI-2 interface, the model ensures efficient communication with a data transfer rate of up to 33 MB/s burst rate and sustained throughput of 23 MB/s. This allows fast reliable data transfer between the VXI devices and the computer.
The hardware package includes a PCI plug-in board, MXI-2 cable and VXIbus interface software eliminating the need for custom programming modifications. This setup facilitates the smooth communication between the system’s PCI slot and the VXI mainframe. In particular, the VXI Slot 0 capability of the VXI-MXI-2 module automates the configuration of Slot 0 detection without requiring jumper or switch configurations. This makes the setup process more streamlined and user-friendly.
The kit comes with NI-VXI/NI-VISA software which adheres to VXIplug&play Systems Alliance specifications. This ensures that the interface complies with current industry standards and integrates effortlessly with LabVIEW, LabWindows/CVI and Measurement Studio. The software offers compatibility with Windows operating systems giving flexibility in various system environments. This kit is a transparent kit which means that the computer operates as it has been directly linked to the VXI backplane. This feature provides the capability of an embedded computer to an external computer.
The 777119-02 kit MXI-2 bus allows the addition of extra VXI mainframes which can be linked using daisy chaining. This provides cost effective scalability for larger systems. The shared memory capability is another key feature that enables VXI devices to have direct access to the computer's memory. This dual port memory access allows for smooth data handling which enhances performance by reducing latency in data transfers.
