National Instruments VXI-8360T Remote Control Module for VXI
The NI VXI-8360T (Part Number: 780143-01) Remote Control Module is a Slot 0-capable, VXIbus device that can be inserted in any D-size or C-size mainframe. The basic function of this Remote Control Module is to connect a PCI express-enabled host computer to the VXIbus. This communication is achieved over the NI MXI-Express x1 interface.
The MXI-Express link enables the computer to perform like it is directly plugged into the VXI backplane. Thus, the VXI-8360T provides the user with the capabilities of an embedded computer. Through an MXI-Express x1 link, the user can control a VXI backplane with a PCIe or an ExpressCard-based laptop/PC or mobile host adaptor. Furthermore, this system allows the user to physically separate their automation or measurement from the host laptop or PC. With the help of the NI VXI-8360T, the user can combine CompactPCI Express, VXI, PCI Express, CompactRIO, PXI, and PXI Express devices into the same system.
The National Instruments VXI-8360T comes with an advanced set of functionalities. Through this module, the user can achieve an extension of backplane triggers between multiple chassis through one of the multiple front panel connectors provided. This model comes equipped with eight front panel status LEDs: FAILED, SYSFAIL, ONLINE, ACCESS, CB, ACT, PWRGD, and LINK. Additionally, a separate CABLE STATUS LED is provided to indicate whether the cable connections to the ports are healthy or not. The default factory configuration of the NI VXI-8360T forces the module to supply a CLK10 from an integrated oscillator (only if it is plugged into Slot 0).
