National Instruments 776164-90 Terminal Block

Part Number 776164-90 is the identifying part number for the National Instruments CB-50 Terminal Block. This I/O block facilitates an easy connection of field I/O signals to NI 6527 and NI 650x devices. The 776164-90 comes equipped with a 50-pin header which enables direct connection to 50-pin cables. Likewise, to safely mount the terminal block on either a DIN rail, a panel, or a wall, you can use the unique protective base that comes with the block. In addition to the 50 screw terminals, it also features an optional 0.5 m or 1.0 m ribbon cable. 

To install the 776164-90, you must first plug either end of the ribbon cable into the 50-pin rear panel connector on the DAQ board. Then, firmly push the connector for proper contact and insert the ejector ears into the connector block. On the other hand, if you want to mount the connector block for stability, you can either flush mount or rail mount. To flush-mount the block, you must insert the flush-mount brackets into the connector block base and then place the connector block where you want to mount it and screw it into place.

Likewise, for rail mounting, you must first pry off the right and left ends of the connector with a screwdriver and then insert the rail-mount bracket into the slots on the bottom of the connector. This is followed by replacing the end of the connector block and pushing very firmly until it snaps into place. Then, you must slide the rail-mount brackets of the connector block onto your rails. After this, you must plug the free end of the ribbon cable into the connector block aligning the tabs and arrows, and then firmly push in the connector until the ejector ears on the block header connector revert back into position. 

While installing 776164-90, the user must be aware that although the connectors are keyed, it is possible to force the connectors into the header the wrong way. If the connectors are not correctly aligned, it could cause signals to be connected to the wrong pins, which could potentially damage both the data acquisition board and the computer.
