National Instruments 777687-66 Terminal Block

Part Number 777687-66 is the identifying part number for the National Instruments SCXI-1366 Terminal Block. This terminal block works with the SCXI-1166 switch module and accesses each of the 32 relays in the switch module with the help of screw terminals. To use the 777687-66 with the SCXI-1166 switch module, you will need the following accessories: a SCXI chassis, a number 2 Phillips-head screwdriver, ⅛ inch flathead screwdriver, wire cutter, and a wire insulation stripper. First, during unpacking, the antistatic package must be touched to a metal part before removing the terminal block from the package.

To connect the signals with the 777687-66, first, the signal wire is prepared by stripping the insulation (no more than 3/16 of an inch). This is followed by prying the top cover with a flathead screwdriver and loosening the two 10-32 x ¾ inch screws on the strain-relief bar leaving plenty of space for signal cables. The signal cables are pulled at least one foot through the strain-relief opening and then the safety earth ground is connected to the safety ground plug. Following this, the wires are connected to the terminal, and the screws are tightened for secure connection. Then, the screws on the strain-relief bar are tightened and the top cover is snapped onto the base. While installing the 777687-66 to the SCXI-1166 front panel, the terminal block front connectors are connected to the mating connectors, and the top and bottom thumbscrews on the back of the terminal block real panel are tightened.

The 777687-66 is designed to work with signal voltages no greater than 150 V and is rated for Measurement Category I. Therefore, it is extremely important that the user not use it for measurements in categories II, III, or IV. On the other hand, it can withstand impulse voltages up to 800 V. Furthermore, note that this module should not be connected directly to the MAINS supply circuits of 115 or 230 VAC. Moreover, if the voltages exceed 42.4 Vpk/60 VDC on the relay terminals is considered hazardous.
