National Instruments 786328-01 Power Measurements Conditioner

The National Instruments 786328-01 (RM-26999) is a rack mounted power measurement signal conditioner designed for use with simultaneous sampling multifunction I/O devices. It is optimized for accurate power measurements in industrial and laboratory settings. The device is equipped with four voltage input channels that are capable of handling peak voltages of up to 2,000 V. These voltage inputs support both Category II and non-MAINs circuits. Each voltage input channel delivers high accuracy across a range of signal frequencies from DC to 1 MHz with precision varying based on frequency. This offers as little as ± 0.05 % error for DC signals and up to ± 1.35 % for higher frequency ranges. 

The 786328-01 unit also boasts low system noise and a high common-mode rejection ratio (CMRR). The device features four current transducer ports that are optimized for use with flux-gate transducers. These ports provide power, communication and signal lines to ensure the accurate measurement of current. The current input characteristics support various measurement voltage ranges including ± 1 V, ± 2 V, ± 5 V, and ± 10 V. The burden resistors are selectable ranging from 0.5 Ω to 10 Ω. For added protection, the current input channels rely on the DAQ device’s protection features.

The NI 786328-01 module operates on a 24 V DC power supply with a maximum consumption of 150 W. It is compatible with recommended power supplies like the NI PS-15 or NI PS-16 and provides reliable power for sustained operations. The unit is compact with dimensions of 482.6 mm x 43.9 mm x 156.2 mm and weighs approximately 3,020 g. Its robust design ensures reliable performance in various environments withstanding operating temperatures between 0 °C and 55 °C as well as humidity levels of up to 90 %, non-condensing. The device is rated for use up to altitudes of 2,000 m and can endure vibration and shock during both operation and storage.

This power measurements conditioner is designed to handle input voltages of up to 1,000 V Category II or 2,000 V peak for non-MAINs circuits. It can also withstand transient overvoltages up to 6,000 V peak. The 786328-01 device's input impedance is 10 MΩ and its long term stability is maintained with a drift rate of only 125 ppm over 1,000 hours.
