The National Instruments NI-9978 (Part Number: 196938-01) Terminal Block Plug is a 4-pin male COMBICON to 4-pin female screw terminal block plug that is intended to supply CompactRIO controllers with necessary power connections. Five power supply terminal block plugs are included in this product; each one has been meticulously constructed to withstand the demanding requirements of industrial automation systems.
The NI-9978 is specifically designed to be used in CompactRIO system applications. CompactRIO controllers are guaranteed to function flawlessly in a range of industrial settings thanks to the 4-pin architecture, which enables safe and effective power delivery. For automatio duties to ensure system integrity, the male COMBICON connector effortlessly integrates with the matching female screw terminal block to create a solid and stable connection that reduces the chance of disconnection or power loss.
The NI-9978's usefulness is enhanced by other parts that are also included by National Instruments. With an integrated 2-position MINI-COMBICON power connector and an 18-position, side-entry screw-terminal I/O connector, wireless sensor network (WSN) measurement nodes are compatible with the device. Together with these nodes, the NI-9978 can be used to improve power connections and overall system resilience, even though it is essentially a power supply terminal.
A strain relief attachment for the 2-position power connector is one of the accessories that National Instruments offers. This attachment clamps onto the MINI-COMBICON connection and secures the power cable in place, even in highly vibration-prone settings. It is intended for use with Ethernet gateways and measurement nodes. In order to keep the connected devices operating continuously, this function is very helpful in preventing unintentional disconnections.
